------- Taylor Lam, 180 Degrees Consulting UNSW Design Director -------
Q: Hello Taylor, please introduce yourself!
Hi everyone! I’m Taylor and I am one of the Design Directors for 180DC alongside Nelson and Olly! I joined 180 at the beginning of this year to be a part of a community that strives to make a real social impact in our world today. What I’ve enjoyed most about it so far is its supportive culture; everyone wants to learn from each other and broaden their skill sets, no matter what portfolio they are in.
Q: What does your role involve and what skills are desired?
As a Design Director, our main role is to innovatively digitise the way we showcase and promote our events and opportunities to all students. This role has given me the opportunity to develop my project management and technical skills through designing content using Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator. In terms of soft skills, having the ability to collaborate with people from a broad spectrum of different backgrounds is highly beneficial when producing effective content.
Q: How has your experience in 180DC been so far?
So far, my 180 experience has been really fulfilling. Having had an interest in all aspects of consulting, social events, and operations, I was encouraged to collaborate with other directors and consultants. From planning unique social events to filming our high-calibre events, no role is ever limited to just one pathway and I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with! The friends I have met in 180 have motivated me to push beyond my boundaries and explore new opportunities.
Q: What is your most memorable moment?
One of the most memorable experiences I’ve had with the team, are our fortnightly meetings doing secret angel (basically consuming a bunch of pizza, IGA snacks and milk tea. (Thanks team!))
Keep an eye out for T2 applications opening soon!
