Hi Nahum, please introduce yourself!
Hey my name’s Nahum and I’m currently in my 2nd year studying B Actuarial Studies/Commerce. I’m a big movie fanatic and I love playing the guitar. I am passionate about social impact and love volunteering!
Why 180DC UNSW and why social impact?
I was born and raised in Pakistan; where a lot of my peers were not as privileged as me and did not have access to food and clean water. We lived in an environmentally degraded parts. Hence, from an early age I’ve been extremely passionate about social impact and making a real difference in the lives of others, whether it be education or environmental sustainability. 180DC has been a perfect platform for me to exercise my passion whilst contributing to non-profit organisations and their sphere of impact.
What have you learnt from being a consultant?
First and foremost, being a consultant has taught me how to think in a logical and structured mannered that accounts for most, if not all the possible solutions. It has allowed me to practise my presentation and slide-making skills which is quite useful for case competitions. It has helped me become a better problem-solver and pushed me to think outside the box in order to develop creative solutions.
Secondly, by working on my project, I gained insight into various industries by conducting market research whilst gaining a deeper understanding of problems faced by non-profit startups and organisations.
What is one piece of advice you have for students interested in joining 180DC UNSW?
180DC is full of passionate and driven individuals, as such, my advice would be to express your passion and illustrate how you’ve practised it in the past.
